Jeez, just found this blog telling about: "This week we saw tragedy strike as a fellow blogger/citizen journalist was slain in China."
He got the news from technocrunch, which is so unprofessional that they didn't even bother to check who was killed -- not a journalist/blogger at all. The guy who was killed was the boss of a big local state-owned company, middle age, kind, hard-working. He was part of the elite with some conscience, rare species. Was it because of this identity of his contradicts the stereotype of Chinese elite in western journalists' eyes? Or was it simply because they were too reluctant to check the fact? I am left speechless...
Sometimes, a journalist really needs the honesty of a writer to face the reality and tell the real truth, not to be distorted by the mindset of popular media. Without this honesty, he would not be able to see the complication of human nature and human society, even if it is the human nature and society of today's China.
